Hello!
My name is Nina-Maria (or Nina for short). Since 2020, I work as a dramaturg and project lead at Svenska Teatern, the Swedish-language national stage in Finland.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Drama and Theatre Studies at Trinity College Dublin in 2011 and my Master's degree in Theatre Arts (Dramaturgy and Playwriting) from the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2016.
I have been fortunate to work with a wide range of audiences, including toddlers, children, teenagers, and adults. I have also had the opportunity to work on projects that incorporate interactive technology.
As an artist I'm interested in exploring contrasting perspectives, narratives and hierarchies. I want my art to offer comfort, relief, insight and joy – without shying away from the more painful aspects of reality. Recurring themes in my work are familial relationships, historical events, rituals and religion, and memories. I'm also interested in technology and its impact on the human experience.
I grew up in a multilingual environment and feel most at home in international settings. I always strive to be guided by trust and empathy. I want to uphold a culture of respectful and supportive communication in all my professional relationships.
