Svenska Teatern is the Finnish-Swedish national stage and one of the oldest theatres in the country. I have been working at the theatre as dramaturg and project lead since 2020. Since August 2025, I am project lead for a development project financed by The Clara Foundation, with the goal to improve the theatre’s accessibility services.
During my time at Svenska Teatern I contributed significantly in the following areas:
Programming
Together with my fellow dramaturgs I have collaborated closely with the Artistic Director to plan the theatre’s programme.
New Work
I have had the pleasure of working with new writing, most notably Veera Tyhtilä’s Under attack and DuvTeatern’s Livsfarligt på allvar. Under attack was the first interactive piece with a branching narrative staged at Svenska Teatern, exploring themes such as politics and democracy, cyber security, and misinformation. The murder mystery-farce Livsfarligt på allvar explored creative accessibility, including sign language, spoken Swedish and audio description as inherent dramaturgical elements.
Production Dramaturg
I have supported the fruition of numerous stage productions, including Robert Icke’s drama Läkaren (The Doctor) and På besök hos småkrypen, a non-verbal, interactive piece for toddlers.
Project Leading and Coordinating
In addition to the aforementioned project, I led a digital development project at the theatre from 2021 to 2025. The project explored how the theatre could include virtual and digital mediums as part of its regular programme. Within the scope of this project I coordinated and produced multiple video projects, an artist residency, as well as the fully virtual event series Teatercafé, in collaboration with Åbo Svenska Teater and Wasa Teater.
Casting and Recruitment
I have participated in several audition processes and actively contributed to commissioning new work for the theatre, and developing the theatre’s submission procedures.
Content Creation
I have collaborated closely with the Marketing Department in producing various types of written content.
